Van Trucks

An Opel Blitz van body truck moves along a dirt road. These van bodied trucks were very popular and were used for many reasons. Repair trucks, kitchens, headquarters, signals were all good reasons to use a van body over a canvas body truck.

Another van body truck. Good camouflage was essential for trucks that might sit in one place for a long period of time. Repairing radios was complex and delicate work, good lighting was important too. Sitting behind a hill, under a tree and well camouflaged was where these guys wanted to be working.

As the grass dries up in the heat, brown paint was needed to blend in with the dead plants and dirt.

Naturally, the ever present canvas cargo truck was essential to move troops, supplies, food, to the front and wounded and prisoners to the rear.

Two more van trucks. The presence of many of these would often indicate an headquarters, maintenance, medical or signals unit. Good intelligence data for the enemy to know.
